The BKc, 2010 Flash back: This past year The Bearded Man spoke at PSFK and the tittle of his presentation was “Dip your bucket where you stand”, the concept and philosophy that everything you will ever need is currently at your feet. You simply need to look within and not very far to find your resources and shape your future. With that in mind, we decided to look back at The BKc 2010 to shape out what we are dubbing BKc 2.0-11. We also wanted to reach out to “you” our greatest source of inspiration for more ideas on what’s to come. Our goal for version 2.0-11 is the most revised, precise and updated version of what we’ve delivered the past 4 years 11 months, 30 days, 21 hrs & 4 minutes of this journey. As usual we feed you to “FEEDBACK”, so have fun and blast off in the comments section. To all you “LOOKERS” who are shy and do not comment, the FEEDBACK helps us make what you love, BETTER. Let us know what you liked or disliked in 2010, or what you would like to see in the upcoming year for BKc version 2.0-11. Please be patient as we edit several more 2010 “Flashback” posts. Have a safe and joyous New Year, from your BKc family. The BKc Style + Character & The 100 Year Plan . . .
The BKc, NYc Stormy Weather. Nchimunya is the latest BKc staff member to take advantage of The BKc BK to the Bay transfer program. So now you can find her at the BKc NYc instead of the BKc SF. She has already received a warm welcome from the NYc staff and clientele. But mother nature had something a little different in store for her, not quite what she is used to in SF. We were able to catch a few shots of her experiencing her first dose of NYc winter weather. And we even caught a few shots of The BKc NYc’s intern Delon clearing away the several feet of snow that resulted from Sunday’s icy blast. He did a great job and the sidewalks are all clear for visitors. So stop by this week and say hi to Nchimunya and the rest of the gang at The BKc NYc.
The BKc, Nell’s Full Time support: Earlier today The BKc connected with our good friend Nell Alk , a writer and a longtime fan of the brand. Instead of interviewing The Bearded Man, as she’s done a few times before in this instance the conversation focused on her.
Nell is presently participating as a top ten finalist in a life-changing competition: Sunglass Hut’s Full Time Fabulous.
Two months ago, Nell stopped by the shop for The BKc re-opening after our NYc makeover and hinted that she was working on an unusual project. In the chaos of the day, none of us really understood the magnitude of the challenge, but, upon further discussion, it was clear Nell was embarking on the experience of a lifetime. In short: Enter a blogging contest with a 60-second video clip and come in 11th out of 350 contestants based on votes alone, then get hand-picked to be one of nine who move on to the next round.
During the month of December, Nell has been maintaining a vibrant blog , through Sunglass Hut, trying to prove to the judges (and her readers) that she’s the girl for the gig. The prize? $100,000, a furnished apartment in downtown NYC and a 12-month contract to travel the world reporting on the latest fashionable things for Sunglass Hut. WHAT!!! Yep, you read correctly. Now you know why The Bearded Man couldn’t help but throw a little love her way. After all, we are friends and she’s always had our back.
The blog-off is almost coming to a close, Friday December 31st midnight EST, so get at her blog to as soon – and as often – as you can. Check back daily. She’s more than just a writer and reporter. She knows the interesting characters and designers to highlight and could sell me sunglasses any day. “Like” her posts, 5-star-rate her posts, comment on her posts and re-tweet her posts. Post her posts to Facebook. We know Nell can do this job. She’s proved it time and time again and we wouldn’t get behind her if we didn’t believe in her. Sunglass Hut, if you’re reading, Nell is your leading, fashion-savvy lady!
Plus, she has great taste in candles, buying a couple every time she comes by the shop. As they say you are the company you keep and BKc is proud of you Nell. The BKc Style + Character & The 100 Year Plan . . .
