The BKc, Sign Maker: Hand painted Sign making is somewhat of a lost art, but there are several young artists or companies that are doing their best not only to keep it alive but to bring it to the next phase of sign design. Gabe the Great and The Bearded Man always say if they were not in the garment industry, they would operate a small sign shop in California meeting small shop owners who have a special love and respect for hand made signs. Work featured are from the New Bohemia sign makers (BKc SF sign) and Mitch of okmitch.com (BKc NYc sign). Stay tuned for a complete story and history on hand made signs on the BKc 2.0-11 site. The BKc, Introduces Peter Cole, a jewelry designer working out of the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn. We met Peter at the Brooklyn flea and was attracted to his ability to revive an array of found trinkets, and turn them into interesting wearable jewelry. After a few conversations at the flea he invited us to check out his studio, we jumped at the opportunity and of course we wanted to bring you guys in on the fun, so Colin The Circus Trainer brought the camera along. Peter’s studio didn’t disappoint, The Bearded Man was sure to put aside a few pieces for himself as well as some for The BKc NYc. We will be working with Peter more in the near future, so you keep an eye out for some custom BKc pieces this spring. The BKc Style & Character and The 100 Year Plan . . .
