The BKc, “Tailored Casual”: Just came across this image in our archives and felt it reflected our goal to balance tailored clothing for a casual setting. The reverse also applies, when you create casual clothing for a tailored environment, but that’s a sensitive subject. In our goal to spread “Style & Character” we created this term called “Tailored Casual”. Tailored Casual is the right mix of classic tailored clothing with other casual elements for every day wear. The picture is of a classic pair of Two Tone Grenson Dylan Brogue White/Walnut, normally a pretty serious shoe. But paired with our BKc denims, with the right cuff and a casual “Sir & Madame tool bag” and it says “this guys is comfortable, and he knows what he is doing”. The BKc, LA Travels . . .
The BKc, LA Travels: The weather, the contrast in class and culture and of course all the vintage shopping will always keep LA on the top of favorite places to visit. With one of our new creative clients setting up shop in Hollywood, it is safe to say that you will be seeing allot more of The BKc and The Bearded Man in LA. This past week a call on Thursday with a ticket in hand had The Bearded Man in LA for the weekend in time for a few meetings, shop tours and the grand daddy of outdoor markets “Rose Bowl”. Up at 5am and on the Rose Bowl premises by 6am, we hit the road running in search of more vintage items research and more. The BKc, Style + Character & The 100 Year Plan . . .

Post 42 On Labrea owned and operated by one of the Winter brothers is a must see if you are on that sound of LA. We sat down and kicked it with Matt Winter about some possibilities between BKc, Farm Tactics, Bag of Vagabonds and Post 42. More to come . . .
The Bearded Man spotted this across the crowded field. Can somebody figure out how we can ship this to NYc in one piece? This brought back so many childhood memories and it needs to come home with us.
Do we need more varsity jackets in our archives? According to The Bearded Man, we do. He will buy something for the patina, wear on the ribbing or something as small as the stitch detail. Call him crazy, he got us this far, so we trust his madness.
Gone are the days when catalogs had swatches to reference the fabric and beautiful illustrations showing you the look. Let’s add that to the 100 Year Plan, “return of the beautiful catalogs/illustrations.
The BKc, The Philadelphia Collection . . .
Pictured Above: The Bearded Man takes speaking in front of an audience seriously. Seen here reviewing his notes in the lobby of our hotel before the event.
The BKc, The Philadelphia Collection: A few weeks back The Bearded Man was invited to speak at The Philadelphia Collection “Behind the Brand: Entrepreneurial Fashion panel” at the Hotel Palomar on S. 17th Street. The Philadelphia Collection is a two-week retail initiative that celebrates the wealth of creativity found throughout the city. Through a variety of events hosted by an impressive collection of retailers, boutiques, stylists and designers. We arrived in Philly hours before the event got a chance to check into the Hotel and hit the city. The Bearded Man does not stay put, he is always out looking for inspiration and the character of a particular town.
Mental preparation of course involves touring the town in search of Vintage, good shopping and finding the nooks of the city. Where are the best vintage shops in philly?
As we combed the city with a handy list of vintage shops and shopping strips , we came across “The Most unusual Store in Philly”. What was really unusual was not obvious to the naked eye as odd as that may seem in this amazing place. Most unusual was that the owner with this extensive collection of African Art and sculpture has never been to Africa.
Closed! It was a Monday and several shops were closed. Now We know how you feel, when you show up to our stores on Mondays to find them closed.
Small signs are no longer in style, make it Bigger!
Cool vintage shop, not far from Temple University.
Below a full house sits patiently
A full house with STANDING ROOM ONLY, waits patiently and eager to learn a thing or two from the experienced panelists.
Moderator & Associate Professor at Drexel University Joseph H. Hancock, II, PhD. gives the floor to the audience to Question The Beard and the other panelist. The Q&A portion of the talks are always the best. The questions are always so interesting.
The Bearded Man answers more interview questions after the panel. Special thanks to The Philadelphia Collection, Rakia Reynolds/Skai Blue Media.
