MEET THE NEW FACES SHAPING THE BROOKLYN CIRCUS NYc EXPERIENCE
NICOLE MOUTIS Nicole Moutis newest member, controller of chaos, female perspective in menswear world, brand manager.
Style: My style is inspired by the people around me and the energy we create together. For only being at The Brooklyn Circus for less than 6 months, my wardrobe has already adopted new staples, which include varsity jackets, khaki chinos and vintage tees. I'm not too sure how my style will evolve but am excited to see the new pieces discovered!
Role:The current state of America is as terrifying as it is exciting. My role in today’s society is encouraging thought and having the hard conversations around race, gender, sex and religion. With social medias apparent influence on society; we have no choice but to participate. There is a lot of work to be done and although we may not live to see any major changes, we can be the reason for these changes. In order to change the system we MUST understand the system. We can only understand the system when we educate ourselves on the foundation the American government was built on and the specific groups who constantly experience discrimination by this system.
WHAT WOULD YOU MISS MOST ABOUT BROOKLYN IF YOU LEFT? The street style. There is a sense of pride demonstrated through all the people of Brooklyn and the outfits they chose to wear.
WHAT SCARES YOU?
“I'M NOT SCARED OF ANYTHING. VULNERABILITY ISN'T ABOUT BEING SCARED. VULNERABILITY IS ABOUT ACCEPTING THE INEVITABLE FEAR WE WILL ENCOUNTER EVERY SINGLE DAY. IN ORDER TO BE VULNERABLE, WE MUST BE ABLE TO OPEN OURSELVES UP AND FORGIVE OURSELVES. BECAUSE WHEN WE CAN LEARN HOW TO ACCEPT OURSELVES, WE CAN ACCEPT EVERYONE AROUND US”.
KASHEEM "KASH" BLACK
Role: “THE UNDERBOSS, THE GREAT ORGANIZER, JACK OF ALMOST ALL TRADES, THE CLEAN UP MAN, HANDLER OF ALL FROM BIG TO SMALL, STATISTICS & LOGISTICS MANAGER”.
-Style: My style is inspired by the street & work culture of Brooklyn & LA, mixed with admiration for RL. I see my style evolving through research, and understanding why I'm doing the things I do and choosing the things I wear. My style is becoming more basic through simplifying and the concept of more is less.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE CURRENT STATE OF AMERICA AND WHAT'S YOUR ROLE IN IT. we as americans are at a stand-still, with all that's going on we seem unsure of what we have to do together as a nation. through color, race, religion, gender we are having a hard time understanding each other and justifying why we are the way we are. My role in it socially is having open discussions with my peers, elders & younger generation, receiving and passing knowledge on to the next person and not leaving them in the dark but instead enlightening my fellow human being.
WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD YOU MISS THE MOST IF YOU COULDN'T LIVE OR VISIT BROOKLYN FOR 5 YEARS. If I couldn't live in or visit Brooklyn for 5 years, I would miss the culture and awareness of my people. There’s something about Brooklyn that completes people and gives them a better understanding of life and their calling.
WHAT SCARES YOU? Not being able to provide for the people I care for scares me. Not keeping promises and finishing a job scares me. Failure.
WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT ROLE AT THE BROOKLYN CIRCUS. Brandon Nicolas- Sales Associate
WHAT INSPIRES YOUR IMAGE OR STYLE AND HOW DO YOU SEE IT EVOLVING? Sportswear, BKc and my peers are what inspire my image and style. My style constantly evolves through more exposure, research, and trying new articles of clothing on, the only way to evolve is to give new things a shot.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE CURRENT STATE OF AMERICA AND WHAT'S YOUR ROLE IN IT. SOCIALLY AND POLITICALLY. IE., WOMEN'S RIGHTS, BLACK LIVES MATTER, LGBTQ, ELECTIONS, TRUMP, HILLARY, OBAMA, GLOBAL WARMING, FRANCE, SYRIA
The current state of America is uneasy and is in need of a major change. There has to be a new sense of unity in all regards, whether it be political or social. The internet is making it easier for unity to transpire, but it needs to translate to the physical.
WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD YOU MISS THE MOST IF YOU COULDN'T LIVE OR VISIT BROOKLYN FOR 5YEARS. IE. FOOD, STREET, LIBRARY, FAVORITE PEOPLE.
I would miss the welcoming feel of Brooklyn. Brooklyn is the hub of culture and open-minded people. Just being able to not communicate with people from here and around the world would make me sad.
WHAT SCARES YOU? BE HONEST, IT'S OK TO BE VULNERABLE.
“BEING STAGNANT IS WHAT SCARES ME THE MOST. IT SHOWS A SMALL SIGN OF NO IMPROVEMENT OR PRODUCTIVITY. SUCCESS IS MY BIGGEST GOAL SO STAGNATION IS THE KRYPTONITE TO THAT”. _____________________________________________________________________
