[Marie Arago Print #2] Anse-à-Pitres
The Rose Marie Innes Gallery is proud to present its current photo exhibit, 'Haitian Journal' by Marie Arago. May 5th-July 5th, 2017 inside The Brooklyn Circus.
"These photographs were made in Haiti. In 2011 I moved to Port-au-Prince to help run an organization that I co-founded with a group of friends and to work as a freelance photographer. I began making these images to represent my experiences while traveling around the country, often during off-moments while on assignments for news or non-governmental organizations. These images served as a counterpart for the types of photos I was hired to make. I did not initially understand this body of work as anything other than a journal but after years of making these images I realized that the “Haitian Journal” is an ongoing love poem to Haiti."
